Hailing from Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Sweet Sam Kisling and his four-piece band deliver a heartfelt blend of blues, country, R&B, and classic rock ’n’ roll. Drawing from the deep well of American roots traditions, The Sweet Sam Band is the culmination of Sam’s past musical projects in both Portland and Salem — a seasoned, soulful collaboration built on years of shared gigs, friendship, and groove.
Sam’s musical journey began at age 13, when he picked up his first guitar and fell in love with traditional country picking and vintage blues rhythms. He later studied in the Professional Music Program at Portland Community College, honing his craft in songwriting, composition, and live performance.
Now based in Salem, Sam fronts The Sweet Sam Band — a tight-knit quartet featuring bass, drums, and keys (with both the bassist and keyboardist doubling as skilled guitarists). Together they create a rich, dynamic sound that moves seamlessly from stripped-down acoustic ballads to high-energy, rootsy rockers — all anchored by Sam’s soulful vocals and expressive guitar work.
With performances across Oregon’s barrooms, breweries, and festivals, the band has built a reputation for authenticity, musicianship, and connection. Whether it’s an intimate acoustic set or a full-band throwdown, Sweet Sam Kisling & The Sweet Sam Band invite every listener into the music — honest, heartfelt, and real.
